Remigo, the Slovenian manufacturer behind the RemigoOne electric outboard, has introduced a waterproof remote control designed to give boaters more flexible control of their propulsion systems. The new remote, announced this week, allows users to operate the motor from anywhere on board, marking a significant update to the company’s compact electric offering.

The device communicates with the outboard via WLAN—a local wireless signal that doesn’t require internet access—providing throttle control within a 15-meter range. The remote can be handheld or mounted to the tiller using a magnetic bracket, depending on the user’s preference.

The new remote also includes a man-overboard (MOB) function that automatically shuts off the motor if the operator falls into the water while wearing the device.

According to Remigo engineers, the control was developed in response to owner feedback and took over a year and a half to bring to market. Design challenges included fitting a long-lasting battery and ensuring waterproof integrity within a small form factor. The remote charges via USB-C and provides up to 12 hours of use on a single charge, with standby mode lasting over a month.

“We heard consistent requests for tiller-mounted throttle control and knew we had to address that without adding vulnerability to the system,” said Remigo engineer Tjaš Cvek. “This remote is our response, built with durability and ease of use in mind.”

The RemigoOne outboard was originally designed with its controls integrated directly into the motor housing, which helped simplify the unit and reduce potential failure points. The addition of the remote now offers users a more conventional or flexible control setup, depending on how they operate their boats. The accessory retails for €180 (approximately $195 USD) and includes both the wrist strap and magnetic tiller mount. It is available through Remigo’s website at remigo.eu and remigousa.com.
