Swedish yachtbuilder Hallberg-Rassy has announced the launch of the updated Hallberg-Rassy 44 Mk II, set to debut at the Open Yard event in Ellös, Sweden, August 21–23, 2026. Building on the success of the original 44—which was considered ahead of its time when it launched—the Mk II introduces 29 refinements focused on improving light, comfort, onboard functionality, and sailing performance.
Available to order now as a 2027 model year boat, the 44 Mk II preserves the core features that made the original a modern classic while integrating numerous customer-driven updates.
Exterior refinements include enlarged saloon and hull portlights to increase natural light belowdecks, along with tempered glass in the hull ports to prevent scratches. The cockpit benefits from an improved steering system and reworked pedestal with alloy links and a Corian top, while the redesigned swim platform now offers more comfort and handholds integrated into the fold-out ladder.
For sailors focused on light-air performance, the new model includes options for a carbon in-mast furling system, an under-deck electric furler for lightwind sails, and dedicated locker storage for those sails when not in use. Instrument visibility has been improved with a new windscreen design and added space above the sliding hatch to accommodate larger Raymarine Alpha displays.
Down below, interior upgrades prioritize openness, accessibility, and modern finishes. Hallberg-Rassy has lowered bulkheads between the saloon and adjacent areas, used horizontal wood grain to visually widen the space, and added white-painted wooden hull panels in sleeping cabins with hidden fasteners for a seamless look. Owners will also appreciate easier access to soleboard storage in the galley and starboard-side cabin, plus a redesigned aft cabin seat for added comfort when an island berth is selected.
Additional improvements include a solid-wood saloon table, hidden switch and fuse panels, updated superstructure interior colors, and more refined installation of optional sky screens in deck hatches. The 44 Mk II will be formally introduced to the public at Open Yard 2026 in Ellös.
