DATE POSTED:May 4, 2025

Following a ceremony in Venice, we can now reveal the winners of the 2025 World Superyacht Awards. The annual event – now in its 20th year – celebrates standout superyachts from the past year and culminates in awards for Motor Yacht of the Year and Sailing Yacht of the Year.

The Motor Yacht of the Year for 2025 was named as superyacht KISMET, a 122m vessel from Lürssen which stands out with her exceptional design and craftsmanship plus extraordinary interiors which present an ambiance of timeless elegance.

She boasts a long list of first-class amenities including a deck pool, beach club, wellness spa, movie theatre and underwater viewing lounge. Across an eight-stateroom layout the yacht can accommodate up to twelve guests including a two-level master apartment plus there are features including a DJ booth and dance floor and wine cellar with tasting room. Designer Pascale Reymond refers to his process as “storytelling through design”.

Meanwhile judges chose KIBOKO 4 as Sailing Yacht of the Year for 2025. The yacht is the second hull in the Southern Wind‘s SW108 series and has been created for family cruising and competitive racing. The owner is an experienced Southern Wind’s client and has aspirations for KIBOKO 4 after previous success with GILLICEAUX at the St Barths Bucket. A contemporary, nautical inspired interior is fresh, warm and welcoming achieving the owner’s brief for function and style and contrasts with the dynamic and bold aesthetic.

A Judges’ Special Award was given to motor yacht SPECIAL ONE who was deemed so spectacularly different from other vessels in the Semi-Displacement or Planing Motor Yachts, 50m and above category.

“She is truly special! This yacht is so unusual, so different and so successfully done.”

At 52m, she is the largest true sportfishing yacht which blends performance and fishability with liveability – she will be used by multiple generations who are not all on board to fish. Beyond her technical fishing capabilities, she boasts cool features including a cinema screen, DJ set up and disco lights on the foredeck plus a state-of-the-art sound system with more than 150 speakers.

Some of CharterWorld’s picks from the winners include:

Motor catamaran SEAWOLF X | 42.83 m (140′ 6″)

Awarded a Judges Commendation, she is a unique and innovative catamaran from Rossinavi with a distinctive hull shape and colour-scheme plus electric power modes which range from 80-100% and a reduced consumption ‘hibernation mode’.

The décor takes inspiration from nature, particularly the sun, the sea and sand. Accommodation is for up to ten guests in four cabins across both hulls.

Motor yacht ‘B’ | 59.5m (195′ 2″)

Displacement Yacht of the Year – 500GT to 1,499 GT was awarded to motor yacht ‘B’ from Feadship and a very hands-on owner, who visited the shipyard every month during the build. The blue-grey paint work camouflages the integrated solar panels, and the yacht combines diesel engines with electric drive technology which enhances fuel efficiency, reduced emissions and offers a quiet and smooth cruising experience.

A total of five dining settings feature across the yacht – both inside and out – catering to the owner’s desire to feel like they were experiencing a different restaurant every night they are on board. Privacy was also a key design consideration with the layout including a dedicated owner’s apartment with cabin, massage room, cinema lounge and private deck.

Explorer yacht ASTERIA | 49.00m (160′ 9″)

Expedition yacht ASTERIA

The Voyagers Award recognises the yacht that has made the most inspiring journey, with expedition yacht ASTERIA’s pole-to-pole, 24,000 nautical mile visits to both the Arctic and Antarctica. Following a full refit in Greece early in 2024, she travelled through the Mediterranean before heading north to the Norwegian Fjords. Svalbard was the final destination in the Arctic and delivered sights including towering glaciers, polar bears, walruses and reindeer. Heading south she reached London in September 2024 prior to a transatlantic crossing to New York and Boston. Next stop was the Falkland Islands, a 50-day journey south to Stanley which they reached on Christmas Day in 80knot winds. Via South Georgia and its impressive colonies of king penguins, elephant seals and snow-capped peaks, the yacht arrived in Antarctica, this time accompanied by winds of up to 99 knots.

This truly epic journey revealed signs of global climate change, retreating ice and displaced wildlife – reminding those on board of the need to protect what remains of these wild frontiers.

The winners of the 2025 World Superyacht Awards reflect a contemporary, sustainable approach to yacht design, highlighting the industry’s commitment to reducing emissions and energy consumption—key steps toward ensuring a successful future for the next generation of yachting.
