Otam’s “Sexy Me” Exceeds Expectations

Otam Yachts in Italy says its new flagship, the Otam 90 GTS Sexy Me, topped 45 knots during sea trials, exceeding the contractual obligation to hit 42 knots.

“Celebrating our 70th anniversary with the delivery of the new Otam 90 GTS Sexy Me fills us with great pride” Matteo Belardinelli, Otam sales and communication manager, stated in a press release. “Exceeding contractual expectations in terms of engineering, performance and comfort is not a coincidence but a testament to our deep commitment and respect for our brand.”

Waterlines on the vessel are designed by Umberto Tagliavini and Aldo Scorzoni Marine Design & Services. The yacht’s design is by Giuseppe Bagnardi of the BG Design Firm.

Power is a pair of 2,600-horsepower MTU engines matched to Arneson surface propellers. Otam says the package, along with the hull design, managed to exceed the speed requirement even despite additional weight that came with requests from the owner, such as a rotating passerelle, stabilizers, extensive marble inside and out, and an advanced stereo system with a dedicated rack room.

Another client request was sound insulation, which Otam says substantially reduces noise on board.

Additional details include a helm console inspired by racecars, with a carbon-fiber structure that resembles the protective “halo” system seen in Formula 1 vehicles. This structure also has an integrated, independent cooling system to keep the console electronics at a constant temperature. The air intakes on the front of the yacht and “snorkel” on the hardtop echo the hood and roof scoops on high-performance luxury cars.

The hull is metallic silver with bronze accents, which Otam says Awlgrip developed for the owner.

Accommodations include three staterooms. The master spans the full beam.
