The Exteta x Riva Collection

Riva Yachts has partnered with Exteta, an Italian outdoor furniture manufacturer, to create the co-branded Exteta x Riva collection of seating, upholstered furniture, tables and more.

Materials and design elements used throughout the collection are exactly what aficionados of the Italian boats have come to expect: sapele mahogany, stainless steel, sculptural design, generous padding and an illusion of weightlessness.

Two different armrests allow for versatility: padded with a slightly curved shape, or wood with a wide, elongated shape reminiscent of a Riva yacht.

Note the level of table gloss in the photograph at left, also a nod to the kind of craftsmanship for which Riva’s vessels have long been known. The wireless stainless-steel lamp is designed to add subtle lighting either on board or in a home on land.

This collection of outdoor furnishings arrives after years of Riva working to extend its brand into everything from clothing and accessories to collectors’ items like humidors and backgammon sets, all available online in the Riva Boutique. With every new element that Riva lends its brand name to, the combination of design and heritage is evident, even in the company’s toy Aquariva and Aquarama model boats for kids.

The idea, the company says, is to inject the allure of yachting into other worlds, such as interior design. It’s a true thing of beauty to see how successful this vision has been and to imagine what might come next.

Massimo Castagna

Award-winning designer Massimo Castagna penned the Exteta x Riva collection. Castagna is the Milan-educated founder of AD architecture studio, and he has collaborated with Acerbis International, Ceccotti Collezioni, Exteta, Gallotti&Radice, Giorgetti, Henge, knIndustrie, Minotti armchairs and sofas, Rossana Cucine and more. His products are exhibited in museums from London to New York City.
