Introduced this year at the Venice Boat Show, Azimut Yachts’ Seadeck 6 is the debut model of the builder’s Seadeck Series—its first range of low-emissions yachts. Azimut says the 57-foot express cruiser will reduce carbon-dioxide emissions by as much as 40 percent in one year of average use compared to similar-size yachts.

Azimut builds this model in carbon fiber, a material the builder helped pioneer within the industry. It’s used on 40 percent of the Seadeck 6’s surface, including the deckhouse, roof, wings, swim platform and most of the main deck. The resulting light weight lessens fuel consumption and emissions.

The Seadeck 6 also introduces a system Azimut calls Mild Hybrid Zero Emission Hotel Mode, which allows zero emissions at anchor as well as while cruising with the generator off, further reducing fossil-fuel consumption. Azimut says owners can expect four hours of zero-emissions anchoring during the day and eight hours at night, depending on weather conditions. Underway, the builder expects eight hours of stabilizer and air-conditioning operation sans generator.

Alberto Mancini penned the exterior lines for the Seadeck 6. The yacht’s hull is wider at the stern and more streamlined at the bow. When compared to standard planing hulls, this design allows the Seadeck 6 to get on plane sooner, reducing drag at lower speeds and increasing range at peak efficiency while maintaining a smooth ride throughout the rpm range.

Matteo Thun and Antonio Rodriguez handled the interior design with a focus on keeping guests connected with their environment. “A boat should be timeless in both a functional and aesthetic sense,” Thun says. “Conscious design is driven by a vision of a more human, natural and sustainable life.” The architects chose to use oak ribbing throughout and brise soleil on the ceiling, elements that create depth, character and a sense of tactile luxury.

The Seadeck 6 has a three-stateroom, two-head layout that accommodates six guests. It also has a crew cabin if owners prefer having a captain, mate or both for extended sojourns.

Standard power is triple 380 hp Volvo Penta IPS500 engines. Owners can opt for a set of triple 480 hp IPS650s. With the bigger diesels, the Seadeck 6 has a reported 33-knot top hop and a 24-knot cruise speed.
